Dear ASPA friends & clients,
This newsletter is not about promoting Botox treatment, but how to get the best possible results from this treatment by combining your lifestyle and our treatments.
Here is the guide what to do 4 months before your next Botox appointment which will help you to keep your Botox results for a long time.
Food Intake
– Increase the intake of animal protein and fermented food (yogurt, eggs, kimchi). Protein is essential for tissue repair and collagen production, which can help enhance skin elasticity and improve the overall results of Botox treatments.
– Avoid alcohol
– Stay hydrated
– Both garlic and green tea are known to have blood-thinning properties. While these foods are beneficial in moderation, consuming them in excess prior to Botox injections can heighten the risk of bruising and swelling. Garlic, in particular, can also contribute to inflammation, which could interfere with the healing process.
– Spicy foods, such as those containing chili peppers, can increase inflammation and raise body temperature, potentially delaying the healing process. Avoiding spicy meals prior to Botox treatments can help minimise inflammation and ensure faster recovery.
-Including vitamin K-rich foods in your diet, such as kale, spinach, broccoli, and cabbage, can support your body’s ability to heal quickly and reduce the likelihood of unsightly bruises following your treatment.
Supplements Intake
– Take 50mg zinc citrate daily 1 week before your Botox appointment and continue for a week after the treatment. The enzyme zinc-dependent endopeptidase, which breaks down the botox protein utilized in Botox injections with botulinum toxin, requires a zinc supplement to function properly. Ensuring that enough content in the body is present will allow the enzyme to function more efficiently and prolong Botox results.
– Avoid aspirin and blood thinners
– About a week before your appointment, you may want to stop taking fish oil and Omega3 supplements along with ginseng and Gingko Biloba, ginger, and Vitamin E as these supplements can increase blood flow and contribute to bruising.
Facial Treatments & Skincare
– Avoid active skincare products after your anti-wrinkle injections. It is crucial to avoid any ‘active’ skincare product for the first three days after treatment. Active skincare includes any products that contain Alpha or Beta Hydroxy Acids, Retinol (Vitamin A) or Vitamin C.
– Have regular microneedling treatments such as SkinPen or Meta Therapy. Especially, we recommend these treatments in combination with skin boosters such as Exosomes or PRX-T33.
Microneedling helps to nourish the skin from within and strengthens the lower layers of skin as opposed to Botox which tends to stop aging on the surface of your skin for a more immediate effect yet can have long term repercussions, depending on someone’s personal lifestyle choices.
Microneedling stimulates the skin’s natural healing and collagen production, and performing it first ensures that the process won’t interfere with the Botox’s effects.
Microneedling induces your body to rebuild crucial proteins that we all begin losing as early as our mid-twenties, which kick-starts your body’s natural production of elastin and collagen, replenishing what has been prematurely lost.
Sport Activities
– At least 1 week after Botox treatment avoid intensive workouts
Your Botox treatment needs up to 14 days to settle in and thicken into your skin.
Strenuous exercise means that your heart is really pumping. That’s good for your cardiovascular system, but not so great for your Botox. Increased blood flow could cause Botox diffusion away from the initial injection site. As a result, it could temporarily paralyze surrounding muscles. Increased blood pressure can lead to bruising and swelling at the injection site.
We hope that this guide will help you in your skin journey.
